Former Armenian MP Levon Sargsyan, wanted in connection with the 2008 attack on the house of Armen Avetisyan, a former head of the Armenian State Customs Committee, was arrested in the Moscow district city of Zelenograd yesterday.

According to an Armenian Police report, Sargsyan was arrested as a result of a large-scale joint search-and-rescue operation conducted by the General Department of Criminal Investigation, the Armenian Police in Russia and the relevant units of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Sargsyan’s extradition to Armenia is now in the works.

He was a member of the Republicans Party of Armenia.
