Pashinyan Floats Idea of Using Video Footage to Fine Businesses Not Issuing Sales Receipts

During today’s Armenian government cabinet session, the first in 2020, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that there are still some businesses that aren’t providing customers with sales receipts and that he’s discussed the issue with Davit Ananyan, Chairman of the State Revenue Committee (SRC).

Pashinyan said they discussed whether it would be possible to fine those retailers and businesses based on video footage shot by clients and others, showing the non-issuance of receipts.

Justice Minister Rustam Badasyan said initiating cases based on third party videotaping could be problematic.

SRC Chairman David Ananyan agreed with Rustam Badasyan.

Pashinyan, however, emphasized that a solution to the problem must be found.
