Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of the Armenian Apostolic Church (headquartered in Etchmiadzin, Armenia), has created a new Diocese of the Baltic States by removing the Armenian church communities of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania from the Diocese of Russia and New Nakhijevan.

Bishop Vardan Navasardyan has been appointed primate of the new diocese.
