Gagik Khachatryan to Remain in Detention
Armenia’s Criminal Appeals Court today rejected a motion filed by the lawyer of Gagik Khachatryan, the former State Revenue Committee chairman and ex-finance minister, to overturn a lower court’s decision to extend Khachatryan’s detention.
Khachatryan, charged with large-scale embezzlement and abuse of official power, has been in detention since his arrest in August 2019.
Khachatryan’s lawyers claim his health has since worsened and that he requires specialized care.
