Gagik Tsarukyan Says Government Should Pay His "Idle" Casino Workers During Coronavirus Emergency

Armenian MP, Gagik Tsarukyan, reportedly the richest man in Armenia, says the government, not he, should pay his casino employees any down-time pay due to the coronavirus outbreak.

“Why should I pay,” Tsarukyan told reporters in the Armenian parliament today. “The state has declared a state of emergency, and it is obliged as a family father to provide money to all its people who do not work. I am an ordinary citizen today, the state the decision on the state of emergency.”

The government has closed all night clubs and casinos in the country.

 One of the establishments that has shut its doors is Tsarukyan’s Shangrila Casino.

Tsarukyan told reports the government should pay the casino’s taxes and the salaries of the employees thus laid off.

 Tsarukyan said he is a shareholder in the casino, but that the manager is from abroad.

 Tsarukyan, who heads the Prosperous Armenia Party, criticized the government for not forcing banks to issue payment waivers to creditors.  

"They should have made the decision that any bank or lending organization, in the case of a state of emergency, should freeze their payment deadlines for three months, not three months after that. If clever steps aren’t taken, we’ll all tumble into the abyss,” he said.

Tsarukyan says there are 70,000 small and medium enterprises in Armenia, each employing 30-50 people.

“If a person cannot live and must give money to all, how can he give? Today they talk about creditors adopting a personal approach. It’s laughable. the government There should be no interest accumulation until May.  The government should be thinking about paying 70,000 drams to those who aren’t working and are daily wage earners,” Tsarukyan said.

Tsarukyan said he had raised 45 million drams for the Nork Infectious Disease Fund has donated 45 million drams, of which 35 million is earmarked for patient care and ten million to pay hospital staffers.

Tsarukyan said he’ll give another 10 million drams to take care of the twenty coronavirus patients in Gyumri.

Նյութում գրված է որ Ծառուկյանը ասում է Հայաստանում 70000 հազար միջին և մանր ձեռնարկատիրություն կա և յուրաքանչյուրում կա 30 - 50 աշխատող . 70000*40=2800000 մարդ ինչպես կարող է այսպիսի թիվ ստացվել հիմա Ծառուկյաննա անկապ խոսացել , թե լրագրողն է սխալ տպել Ծառուկյանի խոսքը ??????????????????
