Embezzlement Trial of Former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan Postponed Due to Coronavirus Emergency

Sustaining a motion filed by the defense team of Serzh Sargsyan, a former president of Armenia charged with embezzlement of state funds in a 2013 diesel fuel assistance program, Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction Judge Vahe Misakyan postponed today's scheduled court session due to the ongoing coronavirus emergency in the country.

The news was reported to Hetq by the office of presiding Judge Vahe Misakyan.

Sargsyan was expected to appear in court today.

The four other defendants in the case are former Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan; Flash gasoline company owner Barsegh Beglaryan; former Deputy Minister of Agriculture Samvel Galstyan; and former Chief of Crop Management Department Gevorg Harutyunyan.
