Armenia: Government Restricts Traffic Between Yerevan and Provinces
The Armenian government has halted bus and minivan traffic between the country’s provinces and is thinking of restricting non-essential traffic within the provinces as well.
This means that public transportation between Yerevan and the country’s ten marzes (provinces) has been halted.
Passenger cars will still be permitted entry to Yerevan.
Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Armen Simonyan announced the new restrictions at a government press release today, noting that the measures were needed to halt the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Under State of Emergency rules passenger cars can only carry one individual in addition to the driver. Exceptions are made for cars carrying children or those in need of medical care.
