Armenia: Government Has Analyzed Telephone Data of 3,029 People to Halt Coronavirus
Armenian Deputy PM Tigran Avinyan told MPs at a special parliament session today that the government has collected and analyzed the telephone data of 3,029 people since the March 31 passage of a bill allowing state authorities to track the movement of Covid-19 sufferers.
Prior to the bill’s passage, Avinyan, who also heads the State of Emergency Command argued that once a person is confirmed to have Covid-19, the authorities will be able to track those they might have come into contact with by going over their phone records for the previous two weeks.
The parliament is now debating whether to extend the State of Emergency scheduled to end on April 14.
