Armenia: Police Refute Press Reports That People Were Killed in Gavar Hospital

The Armenian Police today refuted press reports that several people were killed on April 28 in the Gavar Medical Center.

Gavar, a town of some 20,000, is the provincial capital of Gegharkunik.

The Police, in a statement released today, confirmed that two individuals died, and others wounded, when unknown gunmen attempted to raid the hospital.

The Police say that several people have been arrested and that an investigation has been launched.

Some media outlets had reported that a large group of people, in some reports numbering 500, attacked the hospital.

Photos appeared in the press and on the social web showing people having their necks cut.

Some reports claimed that the hospital had been set on fire.
