Armenia: Parliament Approves Bill Increasing State Budget Deficit by $335M

Armenia’s National Assembly today, by a vote of 101 to 17, passed a bill to amend the 2020 state budget by allowing for a deficit increase of AMD 160 billion (US$334.5M).

The funds will be used to mitigate the economic impact of the coronavirus crisis.

 In the second reading, the parliament fully adopted a bill to amend the Laws on the Legal Regime of the State of Emergency and the Law on Normative Legal Acts. It was adopted by 87 votes to 16, with 16 abstentions.

The parliament, in the second reading, also adopted a government bill to amend the Labor Code and the Code on Administrative Offenses. It was adopted by 117 votes to 2.

The parliament thus completed its special session work.
