
Jermuk Conference to Discuss Impact of Amulsar Gold Mine
A conference will take place in Jermuk on March 13 that will study the impact of the Amulsar gold mine on the town, noted for its natural mineral springs.
The conference is being organized by the Jermuk Development Center and will seek to answer many of the questions that have been raised by local residents regarding the possible negative impact of gold mining in the area.
Invitees include Jermuk Mayor Vardan Hovhannisyan; Edgar Ghazaryan, President of the Jermuk Regional Council; Ruben Hadoyan, director of the RA Academy of Science’s Geological Laboratory; the Armenian Forests NGO; World Wildlife Federation Armenian Branch Director Karen Manvelyan; Ecolur NGO Director Inga Zarafayan, and a number of attorneys, environmentalists, doctors and businesspeople.
