Pashinyan on Resignation of Environment Minister: "He Did His Best"

When asked to explain the May 5 resignation of Minister of the Environment Erik Grigoryan, Armenian PM Pashinyan had little to offer other than to say that the minister “had done his best”.

Grigoryan resigned yesterday without any explanation.

He was appointed Minister of Nature Protection in May 2018 and appointed Minister of Environment in June 2019.

Pashinyan was asked about Grigoryan’s resignation by Bright Armenia MP Hrant Ayvazyan.

Rather than clarifying whether Grigoryan was pressured to resign, Pashinyan listed a number of what he called “achievements’ under Grigoryan’s tenure.

Pashinyan claimed that all issues related to small hydro power plants in Armenia have been resolved, that 500,000 trees have been planted, and that greater monitoring of artesian wells in the Ararat Valley has been implemented.
