Yerevan Court Finds in Favor of Investigative Journalists NGO in Case Against Institute of Physics

A Yerevan court has obliged the Alikhanyan Institute of Physics to provide copies of its board’s decisions to the Investigative Journalists NGO at no charge, rather than requesting a payment of 550,000 drams in processing fees.

Last year, the Investigative Journalists (IJ) NGO wrote to the Institute, requesting that it hand over decisions the board of trustees had made over the past nine years.

Institute Board Chairman Nerses Yeritsyan said the IJ would have to pay AMD 550,000 ($1,150) as a service charge. The IJ (publisher of Hetq) took the Institute to court, requesting that the information be provided at no charge.

The Alikhanyan Institute of Physics is publicly funded.
