An Armenian court has sentenced Iranian citizen Omran Mohammed Baniadamjtari to twelve years for attempting to smuggle 2.6 kilograms of opium into the country from Iran.

Baniadamjtari, according to the court’s verdict, planned to send the drugs, by post to Canada after entering Armenia.

He was caught with the drugs at the Meghri border crossing on July 17, 2019.
