PM Sargsyan - Mashtots Park Stores Will be Dismantled Within 3 Years
RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan stated today that the commercial stores constructed in Mashtots Park would be dismantled within the next three years.
The announcement is the result of contracts that the government has authorized the Yerevan Municipality to sign with the following companies – EMS, Glendale Hills and Sergey-Agopig-Der-Sahaguyan.
The stores will be dismantled, according to today’s decision, to make way for the completion of the “Hin Yerevan” (Old Yerevan) urban construction project.
PM Sargsyan noted that the construction in the park had sparked the ire of many citizens and that, in response, he wanted to make clear that the government was opposed to permanent commercial stalls there.
He noted that the park would serve as the entrance to the Hin Yerevan urban design project.
Sargsyan also noted that the stores that had been recently dismantled on Abovyan Street were in fact legal and of a permanent nature. Nevertheless, they were taken down as promised, the prime minister stressed.
Sargsyan also said that he has called for the creation of a working group to draft supplemental legislation that would, in the future, prohibit high-rise construction in downtown Yerevan and other construction that altered original buildings, etc.
He called on civic organizations to nominate representatives for inclusion in the working group.
