Information Crisis Center Press Spokesman Artsrun Hovhannisyan: "We should not show the cards in our hand"

Artsrun Hovhannisyan, press spokesman for the Information Crisis Center in Ijevan and head of the Command Staff Faculty of the Vazgen Sargsyan Military University, announced at a press conference today in Ijevan that as of July 14, Azerbaijan military forces have targeted the Armenian border communities of Chinari, Aygepar, Nerkin Karmiraghbyur, Paravakar in the country’s Tavush Province and shelled the town of Berd.

Hovhannisyan announced that two factories were targeted in Berd, and that the above-mentioned communities suffered different types of damage, and that the gas pipeline was also damaged.

"The civilian population is being targeted. Fortunately, we have no casualties among the civilian population. "Our armed forces have fulfilled their tasks with all possible means, they have silenced the enemy," he said.

According to Hovhannisyan, Azerbaijan has employed artillery, tanks, and grenades. He said that Azerbaijan, by placing armored vehicles near residential houses in its country, had threatened its own residents.

"Currently the operative situation is relatively calm, and tensions have been decreasing since 18:00," he said.

Hovhannisyan said that there are wounded Armenian servicemen, but that their lives are not in danger, having received moderate injuries.

Hovhannisyan refrained from saying there had been any movement of or additional Azerbaijani troops dispatched to the region, claiming that the Armenian forces are aware of all such actions.

"I would prefer not to talk about it. We should not reveal how much we know. We should not show the cards in our hand. Let the military take specific actions," he said.

Hovhannisyan also did not consider it expedient to talk about any change of military positions, as operations are ongoing.
