Moldova President Calls on Armenia and Azerbaijani to Resolve Their Differences Peacefully

Moldovan President Igor Dodon today expressed hope that Armenia and Azerbaijan will be able to sit at the negotiating table and resolve their problems without resorting to violence.

As was reported by RIA Novosti, Dodon expressed his regret over recent clashes along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.

"Everything that is happening is very painful. In recent days there have been reports of wounded and deaths. I hope that everything will stop and that there will be peace. We will develop our cooperation and partnership with Azerbaijan and Armenia. I hope they will be able to sit down at the negotiating table and reach an agreement without bloodshed, without shooting, without war," Dodon said in a video message posted on his Facebook page.

Despite the Dodon’s neutral statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of  earlier expressed its concern over the clashes on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, noting that the Republic of Moldova was in favor of a peaceful settlement of the conflict based on Azerbaijan's sovereignty and internationally recognized territorial integrity.
