Court of Cassation Judge Gets Nod for Armenia's Constitutional Court

Armenia’s General Assembly of Judges convened yesterday and selected Court of Cassation Judge Yervand Khundkaryan as a candidate for judge on the country’s Constitutional Court.

Court of Cassation Civil-Administrative Chamber judge Stepan Mikayelyan was elected to the Supreme Judicial Council.

Arman Khachatryan, who heads the Supreme Judicial Council’s press office relayed the news to Hetq.

On June 30, the Armenian parliament approved a government-backed bill to amend the Rules of Procedure Law on the Constitutional Court, thus allowing for the dismissal of the Constitutional Court chairman and three other court members.

180 of the 233 judges serving in Armenia attended the General Assembly that took place at Yerevan’s Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex.
