Yerevan Court Orders Arrest of Public Services Regulatory Commission Member

Yerevan’s Court of General Jurisdiction today approved a motion to arrest Mushegh Koshetsyan, a member of the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC), who has been charged with Article 308 of the Criminal Code - “Abuse of official authority or duties by a state official for mercenary, personal, other interests, or group interests…"

Koshetsyan's lawyer Gegham Hakobyan reported the news to Hetq.

Koshetsyan was detained on August 6. The motion to arrest him was filed by the  t Special Investigation Service.

Hakobyan described the arrest of his client as “political persecution”.

Koshetsyan is implicated in the same case as former chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission Robert Nazaryan.

Nazaryan has also been charged with abuse of official authority and a motion to detain him has submitted to the court. An investigation of the case is ongoing.

The Special Investigation Service claims that Robert Nazaryan, in 2011, issued tariff privileges to Dzoraget Hydro, a company owned by individuals linked to Mikayel Minasyan (a son-in-law of former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan) under the pretext of encouraging the development of hydropower in Armenia.
