Armenia to Build Childcare Center in Gyumri

Armenia’s Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs plans to establish a new childcare institution, the Crisis Support Center for Children and Families in Gyumri.

It will be established by merging the Gyumri City Child Care Center and the Gyumri Fridtjof Nansen Child Care and Protection Boarding School No. 2 State Non-Commercial Organizations (SNCO).

According to the project, vulnerable children aged 0-18 in Shirak and neighboring regions will receive social assistance, with a caregiver if necessary, 24 hours a day.

Children aged 0-18 will receive round-the-clock support and care for a maximum of six months, and children aged 2-18 will receive day support services for a maximum of one year.

Conditions will be created for the reintegration of children in society and the center staff will try to solve their social-psychological problems.

It is estimated that 50 children will receive short-term care around the clock, and 100 children will receive day care.
