Honored Architect of Armenia: Eliminating Position of Yerevan Chief Architect is Premature
Gurgen Musheghyan, who holds the title of Honored Architect of Armenia, thinks that Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan is jumping the gun by proposing that the position of Yerevan Chief Architect be eliminated and replaced by a committee.
Musheghyan told Hetq that before any decision is made to eliminate the post, a large working group should study the problems of the city and submit proposals based on its findings.
The issue has come up following last month's resignation of Artur Meschyan, who served as Yerevan Chief Architect for the past two years.
Many believe that assigning Yerevan’s urban planning duties to just one person is an outdated concept that needs rethinking.
