Artsakh Presidential Spokesman Accuses Azerbaijan of Targeting Civilian Population

Vahram Poghosyan, Spokesman for the President of the Artsakh Republic, stated at a news conference on September 27 that in addition to the border areas, Azerbaijan has targeted civilian settlements in Artsakh, including Stepanakert and Shushi.

Poghosyan reported dozens of wounded among the civilian population and two confirmed victims from Martuni. A 9-year-old girl was among the victims. At this moment, Azerbaijani forces continue to fire intensively along the entire line of contact.

"Recent information spread by the enemy that they allegedly managed to capture several Armenian settlements does not correspond to reality. The Defense Army is in full control of the situation. We call for nationwide mobilization in order to be able to get out of this situation with a victory again. Any provocation by Azerbaijan will not hold us back from our goal, which is the principle of recognizing the self-determination of the people of Artsakh," said Poghosyan.

Artak Nersisyan, Head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the Artsakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs says: "The Republic of Artsakh, in accordance with the provisions of the UN Charter, exercises its inalienable right to self-defense, takes all necessary measures to repel aggression, and restores peace in the region. The NKR Foreign Ministry is in direct contact with the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office. The OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs are also aware of the Azeri aggression.”

"Azerbaijan's aggression against Artsakh leaves no doubt that the most effective response to Azerbaijan's attempts to resolve the conflict by force is the recognition of the Artsakh Republic by the international community," Nersisyan said.
