Armenian Ministry of Defense Spokesperson Shushan Stepanyan reports that a Turkish Air Force F-16 fighter jet today shot down an Armenian Air Force Sukhoi Su-25 fighter plane over Armenian airspace.

Stepanyan said the Armenian pilot was killed.

The ministry spokesperson said that an unspecified number of Turkish Air Force F-16s took off from the Ganja Airport in Azerbaijan to safeguard the skies for Azerbaijani Su-25’s and Turkish manufactured Bayraktar drones headed to the town of Vardenis in Armenia.
