Armenia Recalls Its Ambassador to Israel

Armenia today decided to recall its Ambassador to Israel back to Yerevan for consultations to protest Tel Aviv’s continued supply of weapons to Azerbaijan.

Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Anna Naghdalyan announced the recall at a press conference today in Yerevan

Touching upon Turkey's involvement in the current fighting along the Artsakh-Azerbaijan border, Naghdalyan noted that the drones used during the April 2016 “Four Day War”   were also controlled by foreign experts, and that the current provocative actions of the Turkish Armed Forces seriously undermine regional security and undercut the international community's efforts to cease hostilities.

"All this pursues only one geopolitical goal - to strengthen Turkey's role in the South Caucasus. Azerbaijan simply acts as a means to serve this policy of Turkey. We have no doubt that, in time, the territory of Azerbaijan will be used as a location for such groups. Moreover, the presence of these terrorists will turn Azerbaijan and the region into another site of bloodshed," Naghdalyan said.

Naghdalyan said the ministry is in touch with all its partners and that the Armenian FM had a telephone conversation with his French counterpart an hour ago and is currently having a video conference with the Greek Foreign Minister.

"We are in constant contact with our Iranian partners. To disrupt the security of the region, Azerbaijan uses the territories of other countries to carry out military operations against Artsakh,” Naghdalyan said.
