Women of Artsakh Want a Quick Victory

Aspram Aghajanyan, a resident of the Artsakh town of Martakert, describes what happened when the Azerbaijani military started shelling the town.

"At first we did not know what was going on. We all left the houses because of the shots, then we realized that a war had started," she says from Martakert.

She and her three children are now in a safe place. She says that residents were waiting for the Azerbaijanis to attack.

"Early in the morning, an alarm signal spread throughout Martakert. The Turks were constantly firing on the civilian population of Martakert," Aghajanyan says.

Martakert resident Karine Sargsyan's husband and 24-year-old son are at the forefront.

"My father was wounded in the previous fights. But now he’s at the front,” says Karine's daughter, Oksanna.

Astghik Asatryan is too emotional to speak. Her husband is at the front as well.

"We are talking to our relatives. They only tell us we will win. They do not say anything else," said Asatryan.

Although the women of Artsakh are agitated, they are waiting for the victory of the Armenian army with hope and faith.

"We are confident we will win. We want a quick victory,” says Karine Sargsyan.
