
UNICEF on Karabakh Fighting: "Immediate Cessation of Hostilities Is In the Best Interest of Every Child"
UNICEF today issued the following statement on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
"It has been 10 days since the situation in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict zone has sharply deteriorated. According to available information, four children were killed and seven were injured. If the fighting does not stop, this number will tragically increase.
"As a result of the fighting, houses are destroyed, schools and other important infrastructure are damaged. We call on all parties to protect the civilian population and civilian infrastructure from further damage in accordance with international humanitarian law.
"The immediate cessation of hostilities is in the best interest of every child."
