Days ago, MP Samvel Aleksanyan dared reporters to a bet.

The MP/businessman (he owns the Yerevan City supermarket chain) wanted to place a bet that he’d be the only contender for Election District #7 in the May parliamentary election.

Evidently, Aleksanyan in so convinced of his powers of prognostication, that he and the family flew to Dubai a few days ago for some R&R.

Now Aleksanyan has always denied that he’s a businessman, arguing that it’s his wife who manages the commercial interests of the family.

The MP even disclosed that it was his wife who paid for cosmetic surgery on his nose.

Turns out that Aleksanyan predicted wrong. Yesterday, the last day for candidates to file, saw other contenders for ED#7.

Running against Aleksanyan will be Raffi Hovannisian (Heritage Party leader) and Nikol Pashinyan (from the Armenian National Congress).
