French Doctors Arrive in Yerevan to Treat Artsakh Wounded

A group of French doctors arrived in Yerevan today, at the invitation of French-Armenian doctor Leon Khachatryan, to treat wounded Armenian servicemen and civilians in Artsakh. They are in Armenia.

"We're afraid and not afraid, but we realize that we have a lot of work to do, that's why we're here," said Patrick Knipper, a reconstructive surgeon who was working in Gaza.

Knipper is not interested so much in what caused the conflict, but rather that he can treat the wounded.

"In the case of Armenians, every time you treat an Armenian, you get the feeling you’re treating an entire nation. An entire nation is expressed in the face of one person," says the surgeon.

There are also Armenian surgeons in the group that arrived from France.

One of them, Mikael Tchaparian, is happy that he came to Yerevan to help the homeland.

"When Leon Khachatryan called me and said there’s work to be done, I immediately said yes. We’re very happy that we are here. I hope we will do a good job. Time is precious," said Tchaparian.

The doctors are here for one week but might stay longer if the fighting continues.

Khachatryan says the doctors brought medicine and surgical supplies with them.
