Armenian Defense Ministry representative Artsrun Hovhannisyan, at an evening press briefing in Yerevan, said that there were fierce battles throughout the day today along the Artsakh-Azerbaijan border, especially in the south.

Both sides suffered losses, Hovhannisyan said, adding that the Azerbaijani military has sent a large amount of resources, including infantry units, into the fray.

The ministry official said the situation along the border “remains serious”.

He said that fighting eases somewhat at night, only to resume the following morning
