
Azerbaijan Admits to Downing Russian Helicopter Over Armenian Airspace
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has admitted that Azerbaijani military forces accidentally shot down a Russian helicopter this evening over Armenian airspace.
According to the Russian Ria Novosti agency, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry argued that the helicopter was close to Armenia’s border with Nakhijevan.
Initial reports say that two were killed and one injured when the helicopter went down after being struck by an Azerbaijani missile fired from Nakhijevan.
The helicopter crashed along the Yeraskh - Baruyr Sevak stretch of highway.
Azerbaijan has apologized to Russia, saying its ready to pay compensation.
