Pashinyan Urges Supporters to Rally Around the Government

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in a live FB post responding to the demonstrations that broke out in Yerevan after he announced that he signed a document to end the war in Artsakh, urged people to go home and believe in him.

Minutes after Pashinyan announced that he and the presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan had signed a document to end the war, hundreds of citizens gathered in Yerevan’s Republic Square, outside the Government Building, and demanded the prime minister’s resignation.

Chanting "Nikol, traitor”, they forced their way into the building and not finding Pashinyan inside, they ransacked the place. The crowd then headed to the National Assembly where the deputies were trying to gather and convene a sitting.

"All the citizens who have nothing to do with the massacres, please go home. I ask all citizens who believe in me and believe in us to prepare for the struggle,” Pashinyan said. Adding that he and his government have nothing to hide and would be providing details of events soon.

Pashinyan said those who destroyed government property would be prosecuted.

He said that many of those demonstrating where allies of the old guard who were taking advantage of recent events.
