"Where are the My Step MPs?" - MP Edmon Marukyan Calls for Special Session of Parliament

Armenian parliamentary Bright Armenia (Lusavor Hayastan) faction leader Edmon Marukyan, referring to the failed sitting of the National Assembly Council today, published a live FB post saying that seven deputies were present at the sitting from the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), Bright Armenia, and Parliamentary Vice Speaker Lena Nazaryan.

Ten deputies are necessary to ensure a quorum.

We should note that the NA Council must convene a sitting and approve an agenda before any issue can be discussed by the entire parliament.

Marukyan said he spoke with Nazaryan and urged her to call her My Step (Im Kayl) faction colleagues to the parliament to debate the unfolding events in Armenia following the controversial November 10 ceasefire declaration.

"A disgraceful document has been signed, a document of capitulation. Armenia is a parliamentary country, the people voted 73% for a force whose deputies do not come to the parliament to convene a sitting. One of the 88 deputies came, NA Vice Speaker Lena Nazaryan. Power is not only to be enjoyed, but also a responsibility, with risks. Come and say something," Marukyan said.

Edmon Marukyan promised that the security of the My Step deputies would be safeguarded.

Marukyan said that he has received personal threats for the past two, insisting that the government would be responsible for any wrongdoing against him.

"Is there any authority in the country or is it anarchy? The prime minister took power and did not realize that besides dachas and Mercedes there is also the issue of Artsakh. Thus, the deputies thought about business trips, diplomatic passports, honor and respect… Come on, where are you? he wrote.

Marukyan expressed concern that if the parliament does not convene sittings, there’s the risk of civil war in Armenia.

He said the parliament must meet in special session to discuss the ceasefire declaration signed by the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan.
