Lawyers for Arrested Opposition Leaders File Protests
Lawyers for Arthur Vanetsyan, leader of the Homeland Party, and Ishkhan Saghatelyan, a representative of the Supreme Body of the ARF, say they have filed motions protesting their clients’ arrest yesterday.
The two are charged with organizing public rallies that are now banned during the ongoing state of war.
Rallies were held in Yerevan’s Liberty Square yesterday calling for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s resignation for signing the November 9 ceasefire declaration.
Others arrested on similar charges include Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) spokesman Eduard Sharmazanov, Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) leader Gagik Tsarukyan, and Masis Mayor Davit Hambardzumyan.
