Yerevan Court: Decision to Arrest Gagik Tsarukyan was Illegal
Yerevan’s Court of General Jurisdiction of the city of Yerevan has declared that the decision to arrest Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) leader Gagik Tsarukyan was illegal.
Tsarukyan was arrested on November 11 for holding a public rally in Yerevan and thus violating a ban on such gatherings given the ongoing “established order”.
Tsarukyan said the Special Investigative Service decision to arrest him was because of his political views.
On November 11, several political parties and organizations, including the BHK, organized a rally in Yerevan calling for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s resignation and that the ceasefire statement, signed by Pashinyan, Putin and Aliyev be voided.
