Armenian Parliamentary Speaker, Beaten by Mob, Is In Good Condition
Armenian National Assembly Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan, who was beaten by a mob on November 10 in Yerevan, has undergone surgery for his wounds and is reported in good condition.
Following the announcement of the Karabakh ceasefire, a mob of several hundred people seized the parliament building and pulled Mirzoyan from his car, demanding to know the whereabouts of Prime Minister Pashinyan.
Vahan Kostanyan, Assistant to the National Assembly Speaker told reporters today that Mirzoyan’s injuries were quite severe, but that his life isn’t in danger and that he’ll be operated on again.
“I can say one thing for sure. Mr. Mirzoyan strongly believes that Armenia needs stability," Kostanyan said.
