Actor Armen Jigarkhanyan Dead at 85

Soviet cinema legend Armen Jigarkhanyan has died at the age of 85 in Moscow.

Armen Jigarkhanyan was born on October 3, 1935 in Yerevan.

He moved to Moscow in 1967 to further his acting career at the Lenkom Theatre.

During his career, he acted in hundreds of films and performances on the stage. After almost 30 years on the stage of the Mayakovsky Theatre, Jigarkhanyan taught at the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography and in 1996 he founded his own drama theater in Moscow. In 1985 he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Soviet Union.
