Armenia Gets New Minister of Labor and Social Affairs

Mesrop Arakelyan has replaced Zaruhi Batoyan as Armenia’s Minister of Labor and Social Affairs.

Arakelyan, an economist by profession, is a member of the Arakelutyun (Mission) Party. It and the Civil Contract party formed the My Step (Im Kayl) Alliance in 2018, headed by PM Nikol Pashinyan.

Arakelyan has worked in the banking system for many years. He’s served as the General Director of Mogo Universal Credit Organization since 2017.

In July 2018, two months after the change of power in Armenia, Arakelyan was appointed an advisor to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
