Armenia to Spend $16.1 Million on Anti-Corruption Committee
Armenia will spend an estimated 8.203 billion drams ($16.1m) to set-up an anti-corruption committee.
The government argues that one overarching specialized agency, with local branches, must carry out all corruption investigations to increase efficiency of the process.
Today, investigators of the Investigative Committee, the Special Investigation Service, the National Security and tax and customs bodies are conducting preliminary investigations into criminal cases in Armenia.
The government says the new Anti-Corruption Committee will supplement the work now being done by the Commission for the Prevention of Corruption and the future Anti-Corruption Court.
