Yerevan Rally: Tsarukyan Summoned for Questioning; Calls for Pashinyan’s Immediate Resignation

At today’s rally in Yerevan demanding the resignation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Iveta Tonoyan from the Prosperous Armenia Party spoke instead of party leader Gagik Tsarukyan.

Tsarukyan couldn’t attend because he was summoned to the National Security Service (NSS) for questioning.

Tonoyan said the authorities did not want Tsarukyan to participate in the rally. Tonoyan presented Tsarukyan's message to the crowd.

"Once again I am at the NSS at the hands of the cowardly authorities. The authorities once again proved that they are afraid of me and are doing everything so that I cannot meet with my people. Nikol Pashinyan should not be afraid of me, but of the consequences of his disgraceful policy," the message read.

According to Tsarukyan, Nikol Pashinyan continues the political persecution against him.

“Months ago, I predicted that due to the policy pursued by the authorities of our country, an imminent danger is maturing. I announced six months ago that these authorities must immediately leave,” Tonoyan said, reading Tsarukyan’s statement.

According to the message, Tsarukyan's first concern at the time was the security of Artsakh.

"After the disgraceful capitulation of Artsakh, there is no alternative other than Nikol Pashinyan's resignation. Unfortunately, we cannot bring Artsakh back. But the new government will at least have the opportunity to minimize the consequences envisaged as a result of the signed document as a result of negotiations. Instead of Nikol Pashinyan accepting the disgraceful defeat of himself and his team, apologizing and leaving, he tries to justify himself every day, to blame his defeat on someone every day. November 10 will remain in the history of the Armenian people as a day of betrayal and the handing over of the homeland,” Tonoyan said, reading Tsarukyan’s statement.

Tsarukyan, in his statement, argues that the country is in serious danger and only by uniting all healthy forces will we be able to stop the catastrophe brought by Pashinyan.

According to Tsarukyan, Vazgen Manukyan can still overcome the problems facing the country with his political experience, so it is necessary to create a transitional government headed by him.

Those seeking Pashinyan’s resignation have selected Manukyan, who served as Armenia’s first prime minister, to head a transitional government.
