Serzh Sargyan Calls Pashinyan “A Cowardly Leader the People Have Branded a Traitor”

The office of former Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan issued the following statement regarding Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's earlier address to the nation.

"Whoever talks about the negotiation process on the Artsakh issue, you should be silent, Nikol Pashinyan. The negotiation history you know of is what you heard from the "educated" and "constructive" Ali you described, whom you trusted so much that you considered it unnecessary to learn in detail about the process from all the previous negotiating leaders in your country.

“It means that you unconditionally trusted our enemy, but not your political opponents. That is why you have not yet understood the meaning and purpose of the negotiation process.

“And when the negotiation history whispered in your ear with nuances exclusively in the interests of its country, after your patriotism, addressing you on the air for a whole day, humiliating you, laughing at you, making fun of you, resulted in you’re not saying anything in response.

“It was a great disgrace and shame for any dignified Armenian anywhere in the world, but not for you.

“You are only ready to attack your political opponents and kneel before the enemy of the Armenian people.

“You can shamelessly lie and falsify history, using manipulative tricks to avoid any responsibility to cover up your disgraceful defeat with manipulative tricks.

“In the past two and a half years, you have taken the solution of the Artsakh conflict exclusively in the direction of giving or not giving land, while before you negotiations were held to withdraw Artsakh from Azerbaijan through compromises.

“The third President of the Republic of Armenia will touch upon these and many other issues in detail.

“It is a fact that, in history books, all the former authorities of newly independent Armenia will be mentioned as authorities that defended the homeland with dignity, conquered and liberated lands, while you, unworthily defeated in the war for your throne, handed over the lands of Artsakh, incapable of negotiations, seriously threatening Artsakh's and Armenia’s security. You have been branded by the people as a cowardly leader and a traitor.”
