January-October 2020 demographic numbers released by Armenia’s Statistical Committee show 30,242 births and 24,916 deaths in the country, an increase of 332 births and 3,313 deaths over the same period in 2019.

The country’s mortality rate has also increased compared to 2018.

More than half of the deaths were from circulatory diseases of the circulatory system.12,594 people died from these ailments in the above period.

18% of deaths were cancer related. Respiratory diseases comprised 8.6% of the deaths.

According to official statistics, 1,403 people died from COVID-19 during the first ten months of 2020. The highest coronavirus mortality rate was recorded in October - 360 deaths.

Official statistics show that the number of both marriages and divorces decreased in the first 10 months of this year.

In January-October of this year, 9,953 marriages and 2,678 divorces were registered in Armenia.

Marriages have decreased by 3063 and divorces by 536 when compared to the same period last year.
