Russia Calls on Armenia, Azerbaijan to Observe Karabakh Ceasefire

Russia has demanded that the parties to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict return to a full ceasefire, this according to Russian state agency RIA Novosti referring to the representative the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Karabakh.

According to the Artsakh Defense Army, on December 11, at 8:40 pm, Azerbaijani forces launched an attack in a southern direction (Hadrut), during which three Armenian reservists were wounded.

This would mark the first violation of the November 9 ceasefire.

The Armenian Ministry of Defense today announced that Azerbaijan had resumed offensive operations in the direction of the Hin Tagher-Khtsaberd settlements of the Artsakh Republic. According to the official statement, Artsakh Defense Army units took countermeasures.

Hin Tagher and Khtsaberd are two villages in the Hadrut region that Azerbaijani forces were unable to capture during the war.

Armenian PM Pashinyan Spokesperson Maneh Gevorgyan wrote on her Facebook page that Russian peacekeepers should respond to the Hin Tagher-Khtsaberd incident.

Gevorgyan, in another post, wrote that the Armenian side has repeatedly written and verbally appealed to the Russian peacekeepers to carry out their obligations in the Hin Tagher-Khtsaberd section, and that "an agreement had been reached at the highest level."
