Armenian Former Defense Minister Asks Parliament Speaker for Clarifications on Artsakh Border Issue
Former Armenian Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan sent an open letter to the Speaker of the National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan. In the letter, Ohanyan addressed several questions to the head of the legislature.
Mr. Mirzoyan, we are a state of parliamentary government, and you are the head of the parliament, a historian by profession.
Today, in Syunik, the borders of our state are being drawn, according to the Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Armenia Armen Grigoryan, with the demarcation of the borders of the Soviet Union.
I have a question.
- Do you accept the borders of the Soviet Union, which have not existed for more than 30 years? I think you are aware of history, as to how Armenian Artsakh by was annexed to Soviet Azerbaijan on Stalin's 1921 order.
- If you accept the borders of the Soviet Union, do you accept Artsakh as a part of Azerbaijan?
- Don’t you think that by taking the state back 32 years, erasing the liberation struggle of the Armenian people, the Artsakh struggle, you are a participant in the destruction of the history of newly independent Armenia, the formation of the Armenian state in the civilized world in general?
