The Armenian Defense Ministry reported today that Russian border guards will be posted along a 21 kilometer stretch of the Goris-Kapan highway that passes through “disputed” areas.

The area, in Armenia’s southern Syunik Province, has been in the news of late due to uncertainties regarding the new post-war border between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

” On one side of the line of contact, the RA border troops will be deployed on the Armenian side, and the Azerbaijani border troops on the Azerbaijani side,” the ministry’s statement reads.
