Ahmad Bagheripour, an Iranian athlete who won a gold medal at the 12th Kyokushin Karate Championship held in Armenia in October 2017, has presented his gold medal as a tribute to the family of Armenian athlete Arthur Sukiasyan, who died during the 2020 Artsakh war.

Armenia’s Embassy in Iran, in a Facebook post, writes that Sukiasyan and Bagheripour participated in several championships together and became friends.

"On January 13, the Iranian athlete presented his gold medal to the third secretary of the RA Embassy in Iran, Gor Shahverdyan, requesting that it be presented to Arthur Sukiasyan's family," the post reads.
