Torosyan Appointed Pashinyan's Chief of Staff, New Health Minister Has Pharmaceutical Business Background

Arsen Torosyan, now serving as Armenian Minister of Health, has been appointed Chief of Staff of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

He replaces Eduard Aghajanyan.

Anahit Avanesyan, currently serving as First Deputy Health Minister, will replace Torosyan as health minister.

Avanesyan was appointed deputy health minister in May 2018. Prior to her appointed, she worked in the pharmaceutical business. She served as General Director of ArmPharmacy, a company that's done millions in business with the government. The company was the government’s sole supplier of methadone for many years.

According to her financial statement, filed at the time of her 2018 appointment, Avanesyan had a share worth 1 million drams in ArmPharmacy.
