Armenian Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Mesrop Arakelyan, at a special parliamentary session today, said that some 9,000 families (40,000 people) in Artsakh lost their homes due to the recent war.

Arakelyan said that the Artsakh government has launched a campaign to rebuild homes in rural areas now under its control.

He said that while apartment buildings will be erected in Stepanakert and Askeran to house the homeless, the main emphasis will be on building houses in rural areas, taking since there is infrastructure there.

Arakelyan said the possibility exists to add some 50-100 houses in each village.
