Armenian Parliamentary Committee Approves "National Minorities Day" Designation
The Armenian National Assembly’s Standing Committee on the Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs approved a bill designating the first Sunday of October as “National Minorities Day.
My Step MP Rustam Bakoyan introduced the bill amending the Law on Remembrance of Holidays, which will fix the day of national minorities in the calendar.
Arguing in favor of the bill, Bakoyan noted that initially he had proposed to mark the last Saturday of September as the day of national minorities, but since it was introduced before the war, he suggested postponing the day.
He suggested moving the day to the first Sunday of October since the last Saturday of September may fall on September 27, the day the recent war in Artsakh began.
