Armenian Deputy FM in Iraq for Talks

The governments of Armenia and Iraq have signed an agreement allowing no-visa entry for diplomatic personnel, as well as a memorandum of understanding on political consultations between Armenia and Iraq.

Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Artak Apitonyan and the Iraqi Deputy Foreign Minister Nizar Kheyrallah signed the documents in Baghdad yesterday.

Apitonyan also met with the Chairman of the Armenian-Iraqi Intergovernmental Commission, Iraqi Minister of Agriculture Mohammed al-Khafaji.

Apitonyan’s delegation visited Baghdad’s St. Gregory the Illuminator Church and met with the Primate of the Armenian Apostolic Diocese in Iraq, Archbishop Avak Assadourian.

On February 23, the delegation members also met with Rehan Hanna Ayoubi, Head of Iraq’s Armenian-Iraqi Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group.
