Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Says Upcoming Azerbaijani Military Exercises Don't Pose Regional Security Risk

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova believes that the forthcoming military exercises of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces will not create problems for stability and security in the region.

"Usually, all the states in the South Caucasus hold military exercises. It is done regularly, and relevant information is provided to the interested parties in a reasonable time. According to our information, the military exercises of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, as I have already mentioned, are of a planned nature aimed at improving the combat readiness of the troop and will not pose stability or security risks in the region," Zakharova said at a press briefing today in Moscow.

Several days ago, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense announced that military exercises involving 10,000 soldiers and thirty aircraft will be held in the country’s mountainous region on March 15-18.

Today the Armenian Ministry of Defense reported that on March 16-20 tactical military exercises will be held. 7,500 servicemen and an unspecified number of military aircraft will participate in the exercises.
